Typical labor costs (parts not included)
Direct replacement (drop-in) $15 to $35 for standard steel-string electric or acoustic guitars, where the tuners fit the existing holes and post sizes
Classical/Friction Tuners $20 to $90 depending on style (classical guitar roller tuners vs banjo ukulele Friction pegs)
Style Change/ Modification (Add-ons):
Drilling new screw holes+$35
Reaming peghead holes for larger posts +$25 to $30
Drilling new guide pin holes (eg: Sperzel or Schaller style) +$55 to$65
Restringing/Set-up Fee Most shops require a resting or Set-up alongside tuner replacement, which adds $20 to $50+ to the final bill (though strings may be well enough to reuse or billed separately
Other Modifications like decal work depending on sizes of decals +$20 to $50, decals need to be ordered if not supplied - order fees extra
Saddles, nuts and bridge pins replacement drop-in or upgrades $20-$50, parts are not included, order fees extra
Pick guard work depending on style $20 to $50 parts extra if not supplied order fees extra
